Kingdom Come in Alliance: Bill and Zoe Ann's Story

Kingdom Come in Alliance: Bill and Zoe Ann's Story

"We prayed for something like this for 20 years," Bill Homeyer said, reflecting on the moment they were invited to help plant Doxology Alliance. After more than two decades at Doxology Southwest, he and his wife Zoe Ann faced a choice that would uproot their comfortable life and challenge everything they thought they knew about stepping out in faith.

"For us, it was easy," Bill recalled. "If there was going to be a call, we wanted to respond."

But that response meant surrendering everything familiar for something uncertain. "It was really hard to leave our community group," Zoe Ann admitted. "It's always difficult to step away from something comfortable, but God seemed to be orchestrating something bigger than us.”
You see, saying yes to this calling demanded a higher level of sacrifice. For “church” to even happen in those early days, Bill drove a trailer full of equipment at 5AM, conducted setup and teardown with a team of volunteers, and fundamentally converted a school into a church.

"When you're planting a church, you can’t just show up." Zoe Ann explained. "You're building community throughout the week. You're being the church in every interaction."

Both had participated in church plants before, knowing that sometimes they succeed and sometimes they fail. But the Homeyers noticed that God was beginning to demonstrate His faithfulness through the perseverance of the volunteers.

One evening in their new community group in Alliance, their neighbors Ken and Sue, who had never been connected to any church, experienced a life-changing revelation about grace.
“I always thought I wasn't good enough for God,” Sue said to the group.

But then, Zoe Ann remembers that “she actually read the Scripture and realized that the Bible never says anything like this . You could almost see the light bulb come on over them both."

That breakthrough represented more than personal transformation. For Bill and Zoe Ann, it was a Kingdom Come moment. Their sacrifice of comfort had created space for God to write Sue's story of grace, proving that obedience opens doors only He can walk through.

As Alliance grew, God continued providing. Week after week, Bill and Bryan wrestled with the heavy setup trailer, quietly praying for relief from the exhausting routine. Then during a casual lunch conversation, a newcomer with a truck simply said, "I'll do that," before anyone could even ask for volunteers.

"Bryan and I just looked at each other and nearly passed out," Bill laughed. "We'd been praying for that exact thing. God provided just the right person at just the right time." According to Bill, this pattern repeated itself as the congregation began stepping up. Today, Casey is faithfully serving coffee every Sunday, Dale and Bob teach the children, and Donnie and Ashley handle sound.” Each person, a representation of God's perfect timing and provision.

Where do they see Alliance in five years? The practical answer involves constructing a permanent facility on Blue Mound Road, but the spiritual vision reaches far deeper. Bill anticipates more community groups, expanded discipleship, continued outreach to their diverse neighborhood, and partnerships with local ministries.

Bill and Zoe Ann's story reveals that Kingdom Come unfolds through ordinary people saying yes to God's invitation. "Don't let fear rule your heart." Zoe Ann says. “Just take the first step." When they chose obedience over comfort, God used their availability to create space for His glory through transformed lives, faithful provision, and a thriving community that now reaches unchurched families, disciples new believers, and demonstrates Christ's love throughout Alliance.
